Back Home

Well I'm back home and it has taken me about three weeks to recover from the long six weeks
on the road.

I finally got my camera out for the first time since I got back to Cleveland. There is really not much
I want to shoot right now but I thought I would take a ride west to Sandusky, Ohio at the suggestion of my friend Kathrine Morabito(she's a Vet), who told me about the nesting Bald
Eagles there. I am not a very good wildlife photographer but I thought I would give it a shot.

What do you think.

Feb. 10,2009

Ok so it's been a while, I'm sorry about that, but I'm here now.

Well I had planned to stay with my sister Janet in LA until Monday but instead I left on Sunday
to avoid that Monday morning traffic and let me tell you that was the right move.

Anyway I'm on my way back to Cleveland and to tell you the truth I'm ready. I drove to Flagstaff, AZ
On Sunday where I hit about 10 inches of snow, I know that sounds bad but just 10 miles east
there was almost no snow at all and the next morning Flagstaff got another 15 inches.

The next day (Monday) I drove to Albuquerque, N Mex. stopping now and then to shoot photos
along the Historic RT 66. Then today (Tuesday) I left N Mex. and headed for Tulsa OK again
stopping to shoot a few photos, everything was going great, clear blue skys and 60 to 75 degrees
all the way to Oklahoma City, Okla. I ran into thunder storms, and didn't know I had missed
missed a catagory 3 tornado by minutes. I guess the 2 inches of hail on the ground should
have tipped me off.

Well to make a long story short, I made it to Tulsa, and should be back in the big C by Friday.
So until then enjoy some of the photos from Historic RT 66.

I love you all, and yes Ethel that means you too.

February 2,2009

Well I've been gone for one month now and what a great month it has been.
As my baby sister Ethel been telling me for the last two weeks now, "it's time
to go home.(I think she's trying to tell me something).
That's OK though, My niece Celeste and her husband Andrew said I can
come back and stay as long as want.

On Saturday the 7th I will be driving back to LA to stay with my sister Janet
who is much nicer than Ethel and she cooks. It's not that Ethel can't cook, It's
just that she won't.

On Monday the 9th I will be heading back to Cleveland and should be home in
4 or 5 days because weather permitting I will do photo along The Historic RT 66.

For the past week or so I have been visiting with family and it has been
great. So great I am posting some photos of my family.

For those of you who want to know which one is Ethle (the mean one) she is on the
far right in the large group photo. And yes that is all my family, a very small part
of the whole.(looks like the UN).

Shot 1...Me and my two daughters, Stephanie on the left and Kathleen on the right.
Shot 2.. My nephew, nieces and daughters.
Shot 3.. The whole gang in Northern California.

The first thing I want to do is to thank all of you who called or emailed me to wish me a happy birthday.
So Thank you all.....

The posted photos were taken a few days ago, I have not shot anything for a while but not that it has stopped
raining and I'm back in the Bay Area and it is going to be in the mid 70s and blue skys for the next week
or so I will be heading for San Francisco and north to Bodaga Bay and beyond.

But anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos today.

I stopped to see my friend Cindi yesterday, seeing her and meeting her husband John really made my trip.
I had not had any contact with her for about 30 years so it was really fantastic to see her. (she still looks
like she's 30 something).

If any of you are planning a cross country trip, I strongly suggest an indash GPS they are worth the cost.

Today I am going to hang out with my baby sister Ethel, she just loves me. Then back to the coast..

January 26,2009 / No Yosemite Pics

For the last four days I have been in Sonora, CA with my good friend George Frey and his wife Jolene.
From there I had planned to do some shooting in Yosemite, but it rained all four days, so we didn't do
anything but eat, talk and watch the rain come down.

The only photos I shot are the two that I've posted today, as you can see, I just had to shoot something.

I heading to Sacramento,CA to see a very dear friend and then back to my nieces house so I can drive my
sister Ethel nuts for a few more days.

I'M BACK...........

Sorry it has been a while, I have not been able to get on the net for about a week. But now I found one
of the many Star Bucks in San Jose, CA I will try to give you a little up date.

I talk to my mom every day and she has been letting me know how cold it has been in Cleveland and
all I can say is "Too Bad". It.s been in the 70's every day since I got here so I have spent alot of time on
the coast taking photos.

This morning I had a meeting with Brown Trout Publishing, and it went great. I will be supplying them with
Photos of Cleveland and also submitting photos of some of the National Parks including Yosimite.

I will be heading for Yosimite On Wenesday and spending time with my daughter and my friend George in the mountains.

I hate to cut this short, but I have a lot to do before meeting my daughter for dinner. So I'm
going to post a few photos and head out.
I will try to get back on in a day or two.

January 13,2009

Well, I think 2 or 3 days in LA is enough, even though I really enjoyed visiting with my sister, my
nieces and ofcourse my nephew Daniel. We did have fun and they took great care of me. But now
I'm in San Jose CA with my baby sister Ethel where it is a whole different story, she won't cook
for me or even wash my dirty cloths. If it weren't for her great kids and there spouses I'd head for Yosimit
today.

I'll be here in San Jose for about a week I have a meeting with Brown Trout Publishing on Monday,
but in the meantime I am going to s pend some time shooting on the coast. My friend Joanne was getting
a little tired of seeing red rock so I have to do something a little different

The photos I posted today are of my sister Janet in LA and the most famous hot dog stand
in the country, the line going around the building is about as short as it gets. From the time it
opens until close an 3 in the morning. The Hot Dog Of The Stars.

No I didn't have a dog, the line was too long.

I love you folks for following my blog and now I have one of the greatest guy on the planet following
along, Lou Maglio, one of the TV-Anchores I use to work with at TV-5. Now if I could just
get Wilma Smith to join my band of followers, I could come home.

January 10,2009

Sorry I didn't get a chance to blog you yesterday, I stayed at a cheep motel with no net.

How happy it made me, when I checked my site to see my daughter Stephanie and my
Grandson Joey have joined me on my trip, Just want to say "I love you guys".
My other daughter Kathleen has also been on board. In fact I will be spending some time
with Kathleen in Valley Springs, CA on my way to Yosimite.

I left Sedona Thursday about 12noon, I got up at 6am and was planning to be out of there
by 8am. But I just couldn't leave. GOD I Love That Place.

Hey guys I want to thank my buddy Tony Gaskins, because everytime I can't spell a word
I call Tony and he spells it for me. Kind of a human spell check.

Well I'm at my sisters in LA and will be headed for SF to my other sisters on Tuesday and then on to
Kathleens and Yosimite.

These are the last couple photo form Sedona. Look for the coast and Yosimite in a few days.

Say goodbye to SEDONA

Well I did get a few good shot but not a lot. As a photographer, this is one of those places
you really need to study for about a week without even taking you camera out of the case.
(that's a lot harder than it sounds, as I found out). I shot a lot of your basic touristy stuff,
But when I come back I will stay for at least a month and I will take my time(which I didn't
do this time).

January 8, 2009 / My Last Day in Sedona, Arizona

Today is my last day in Sedona, but as Arnold would say, " I will be back". I really wish I could
tell for all what an expeience this has been. Sedona is indeed a magical place, and until you come
and experience it for yourself you will never know.

My buddy Jerry Handlovics emailed me yesterday and said he liked the photos, but how did he know
if I was really out west taking them. He said I could be buying the images and claiming them a my own.
Well Mr. Handlovics, what do you say now.
,
I had plan to stay in Sedona for a day or two, well this is day four, but I did take a lot of photographs
(about 200 or so), I'm sure once I get them edited, only about 40 or 50 if I'm lucky will make the cut.

I'm going to post a few more Images, because my dear, dear friend Cynthia ask me to.
Ops_posted one photo twice. SORRY

Have A great day folks, I see you in California.

January 6, 2009 / Sedona, Arizona

Well Well Well..........I made it to Sedona and I'll tell you now, There is not a photograph on
the planet that can do this place justice.

I drove in on Rt.89A out of Flagstaff, where there was about 10 inches of snow on the ground
and the temp. was 10 above zero. I was told by my friend Cinthia (not Cindi) that it would
warmer and little or no snow in Sedona, and she was right. But to tell you the truth the scenery
is so breath taking and overwhelming the weather didn't matter that much. But just incase your
you just have to know, it was in the high 50s maybe even low 60s with clear blue sky.

Think I would like to call my son and have him ship the rest of my stuff. What a great place.

How Much Snow you ask?

The Sign

January 4,2009 / Flagstaff, Arizona

Hi Folks,

Well I left Albuquerque this morning headed for Flagstaff and I made it. But I have to tell you it wasn't
easy. Why didn't someone tell me that it snow in the mountains of New Mexico. And there is more snow
in Flagstaff then I have ever seen.

I know you are all thinking "oh that poor guy" but to tell you the truth I rather enjoyed it. Even though
the speed limit on Rt.66 is 75mph I just took my time at about 20 to 40mph and made it safe.

I am spending the night here in Flagstaff and heading to Sedona in the morning (Tuesday) where I plan
to spend 2 day taking photos.

Hold on guys, someone is at the door.................

OK, that was the Domino's guy with my Meat Lovers Pizza so I'm going to go eat now.

Talk to you soon

January 4, 2009

Hi Folks,
Sorry I you did not hear from me yesterday but for some reason I couldn't get on the net at the Red Roof
Inn in Oklahoma City where I stayed last night. I don't know why I thought their wifi would be working
when the hot water wasn't even hot. Oh well, just part of the adventure.

Tonight I,m in Albuquerque, New Mexico and should make it to Sedona,Arizona by evening. And then
let the photographing began.

I know driving across country alone is not for everyone but if you ever thought about it, JUST DO IT.
Maybe not this year or next but before you leave the planet. Oh that's right you don't know when that
will be do you. Well give it your best guess.

Route 66 is wonderful and even though there are times when there is nothing for miles and miles, it's
still beautiful.

I will leave you now with the above photo, AINT IT GRAND!!!!!!!!!

LOVE YOU ALL

GARY
